Experience the vibrant energy of West Africa with Lua Shayenne Dance Company! This high-spirited and interactive workshop blends traditional African dance and live percussion, and into a joyful celebration of culture and community. Rooted in the rich traditions of West African dance, participants are invited to sing, move, and feel the heartbeat of polyrhythms come alive in their own bodies. Bring your curiosity, your energy, and your openness to the rhythm!
RHYTHM EXPLORERS! Rhythm Explorers! is an interactive drumming program created by Lua Shayenne Dance Company to introduce participants to the vibrant world of West African rhythms. Led by the talented djembefola Cécé Haba, this five-session or single workshop(s) of one hour each offers participants a unique opportunity to discover the fundamentals of drumming through play, movement, active listening, and creative expression. In addition to developing motor skills, focus, and a sense of community, participants are invited to explore the cultural roots of traditional Guinean rhythms in a dynamic and playful environment.
